Republike is a social network model that provides a concrete solution to each of the problems encountered on dominant platforms (polarization, censorship, violence, fake news, addictions) thanks to community features and mechanisms never seen before.
Problem – These pains are the consequences of the so-called “free” business model that can only be offered to the cost of stealing users' attention by serving them ultra-targeted, easy content, generating instinctive fast reactions.
The "Web3" value proposition is solving some parts of the problem by transferring the governance and some profits to the user, but at no time does it solve the major root-issues linked to the financial dependency on user engagement.
Solution - The heart of the problem, which no one is really tackling, is therefore the direct questioning of the engagement/attention business model. This is what we are doing to replace it with a 100% profit-sharing subscription. For this purpose, we use the blockchain (cryptocurrencies and NFT passports) as a technology validating ownership, reputation, reward and shared governance.
For paying to make strong sense, the community must share profits but also own the network. You pay => you buy a fraction of the network. And after all, today you pay for everything: video, music and even the press. The difference being that you are not the owner of Netflix, Amazon, Spotify or the NY Times… You pay for everything except for what is today the second human activity of which users are however a majority to complain…
Vision - We further believe that just as the 'attention economy' on which 'free' is based has generated all these biases that have profound implications in the real world, we can turn the phenomenal power of social media around to use it systematically for virtuous ends for humanity.
Context - We are not the only ones working on this subject but we really believe that our solution goes much further than anything we have seen and the time-to-market cannot be better to shake up the established system.
From the outset, Republike was designed to offer a global alternative to the engagement-based model on which all the major global platforms are based by providing a web 2.0 => web3 "bridge" in terms of UX, the target being the average Facebook/Twitter user.
Republike is this platform, Facebook-like in the codes but Facebook-killer in the business model and in its interaction, moderation, governance and reward mechanisms.
We are currently in alpha version and the app will be released in H2 2022.
